  1. I guarantee that. Got scars to prove it, and a few lost friends. My point exactly..... I wont get in a vehicle now without one. It sucks to learn the hard way.... It normally takes a bit to get through my thick head but at least Im still here and I learned my lesson!
  2. I have a mint one off a 99' 75.00 shipped
  3. staples are no joke... I had 13 in my forehead once.... except my accident was a little more than I would care to go through again. Short story.... I rolled a 3/4 ton ford van during hurricane Floyd we had here back in 99' (thanks to a deer) I wasnt wearing my seatbelt and ended up getting tossed around inside the van before it sent me through the windshield and then I was dragged down the highway for several hundred feet with a van on my chest and the pavement on my back! Lets just say it was an interesting ride! This pic was taken after I got home from the hospital. (only there for the staples and X-rays) excuse my balding head
  4. Im going to agree with this to a point... When they become 12-13-14 and want to start dating.... Thats when I would have a problem! I have 2 boys and they are a blast! Congrats and good luck!
  5. Mrmooney: Im pretty sure I have a spare rear caliper if he doesnt want to part his out. I'll check tonight and let you know.
  6. blaster pegs actually move you back 2" and down 2" and I feel very comfortable on my shee now. I like this a lot but its all personal preference
  7. Im pretty sure I have one off a 99..... I will check tomorrow and let you know.

    Sand Tires

Your not even in the ballpark... Yes they are used but in perfect shape. Rear tires still have some nipples on them.
  9. Doltz; I too think that my 10 paddle haulers would be too much for your motor. You may be able to gear down enough to run them but it would hurt your over all performance. I too agree that an 8 or 9 paddle would be better for you.
  10. Brian: The crank should NOT go anywhere near the cases.... The scoring marks you see could be from debris that went through the motor. I would not even consider replacing the top end w/o splitting the cases to fully inspect the crank. If there was any sand in the top case half where the transfers are then I would replace the crank. I would NOT risk a new top end. Do you have a digital camera? If so send me some pics or post them here Walt

    Sand Tires

Make me an offer... Im hesitant about selling the haulers since I like them so much but I'm not an all out dragger and I want a tire that will let me play more in the sand.
  12. Monson sand and gravel is a FUN fun sand pit. Its located right off Rt20 in Monson Mass. Just a few miles over the line north of Stafford Ct. The problem is the fact that there is no place to park near the pit since the police will know right where to find you. Unless you know someone that lives near there and you can ride there from their property. I havent ridden there in almost 4-5 years since they were cracking down hard (DEP & police) They are in cars, trucks, and 4x4 atvs.
  13. meat head: Im sorry if I came across like an asshole to you... That was not my intentions. There is no way I think a YFZ would beat an 80hp shee. (in a drag race) but on a track.. Yes I think its VERY possible for a "mildly" modded 450 to beat an 80 hp shee. Do I think a YFZ can beat an 80 hp shee in a drag race? I say YES. Its possible DEPENDING on the conditions. (hill, sand, dirt, pavement, RIDER, bike set ups , ect) Do you think I believe all these jokers talking smack about how their stock YFZ beat a built banshee? NO! Now would I sell my banshee for a YFZ? Not a chance in this lifetime. Would I get a YFZ WITH my banshee? SURE! I dont and have never run an MX race, I dont strictly drag race, and I dont strictly trail ride. I do just about everything on my banshee except for MX. Would you say that a 90hp drag ported shee would be a good trail bike or a dune/play bike? ALL of my opinions of the YFZ, I formed myself after spending 4 days in the dunes with a vast array of them. From BONE stock to FULL tricked out MX/Desert racers. The one bike that I had a lot of seat time on had a full sparks pipe and an intake/K&N system. The harder you ride the bike the better it feels. It is VERY predictable, handles SO nice, and pulls like a train. 500.00 in mods and it was side by side w/ a piped/jetted banshee. Ask ANYONE that went to roostfest.... On our FAST dune rides I had to muscle my shee around and I was beat after at least an hour straight HARD HARD riding.. (call me what you want but I'll bet anyone else would be the same) Now after the same kind of ride on the YFZ... I felt as if I was riding a plush BMW w/ the handling of an F1 race car and the grunt/power of a big block chevy. When we were done, I felt as good as I did before we left on a ride. I never said to sell your banshee for a YFZ or that I think the YFZ would replace the banshee.... chipdog-puppy has shown his IQ, intelligence and maturity level several times and I think that stands for itself... When he can hold a stable conversation, then I'll come back to this thread Duece: Im sure you do but if anyone else gets a chance... Take a look at the GNC schedule/results over at www.atvscene.com and tell me when the last time a banshee won in a pro or open pro class. Have a great day everyone....
  14. Meat_head: Shorten that race by a few hundred feet.... and see how the outcome would be.. You banshee is also far from stock! When did I say a banshee would lose to a 450 in a drag race? The banshee, having all top end power SHOULD beat a 450 in a 600-700' race but would you care to try that same race but on an MX track? Or cut that race down to say 200' on loose dirt/loam and see who wins and by how much. How about comparing a STOCK banshee to a STOCK 450? That is what I was referring to... If a PORTED, PIPE'D, MODDED banshee w/ ALL the bolt ons is close to a "pipe'd" 4 stroke, then I better rethink life since that would NOT be a fair comparison. fireman: Did I say the 450 would rev the SAME or LIKE a 2 stroke? Ya know what... You guys can go piss up a rope... Im all done trying to have a civil conversation w/ morons... Will someone please remind me not to have a battle of wits with people that are obviously UNARMED!
  15. Blaster Dry Weight 324 Lbs. Banshee Dry Weight 386 Lbs YFZ 450 Dry Weight 350 Lbs. TRX 450R Dry Weight 350.0 pounds Care to spew out more useless bullshit? Go to school little boy.... you dont want to be late
  16. chipdog: If I didnt see it for myself then I may have believed you.... The new 450R is NOT all that its talked up to be. I've seen both, ridden both, watch them race and I also get a lot of inside information from friends. The new 450r may have honda's reliabilty, and handling, but it lacks in other departments. Yamaha did their homework and I think it will be dominating everywhere. The YFZ will out handle and out pull the new R....... The YFZ will also yield more power from basic mods over the Honda. Its been proven. I dont know how the 2 450s you saw raced, but I would put $ on the fact that the rider on the YFZ was lacking.... and how you can compare the YFZ to a 4 stroke blaster is just childish talk.

    Sand Tires

21x7x10 mohawks on or off wheels 21x11x8 10 paddle haulers on or off wheels they have 2 dune rides on the rears and 3 on the fronts same tires as shown here except the front billet center wheels are not for sale.
  18. Damm dude! I've been there before and its NO fun! Wait until they have to remove them! Did they give you anything for pain before coming at you w/ staples? They put 15 staples in my head w/o any pain meds cause they didnt know if I had a concussion... Lets just say I feel your pain! Glad to see your still here and I hope ya heal fast! Good luck
  19. Wassup: The best way I can describe a YFZ is like this.... Imagine a 4stroke version of the banshee but with MUCH better suspension, more agile in the air, very well balanced, but has a ton more grunt down low. And thats stock. I would say that a 400ex to a YFZ is like a blaster to a banshee. It rev's almost like a 2 stroke and pulls like a frieght train. Dont get me wrong.. You would have to pry my banshee from my cold dead hands... But like Duece said... We've spent 17k on our shees to make them the way WE want them... Power, Suspension, looks etc. Call me a sell out, but the life is the banshee is dying fast. When was the last time Yamaha updated the banshee? The suspension has been THE SAME since 1991 (a-arms) I dont consider changing a CDI or harness plugs or a bolt here and there "updates" I love the power of my shee but only after I sunk thousands into it... I think a stock banshee is boring now, The YFZ is fun to ride and I think will hang right w/ a stock shee or even a piped one. Times are changing,, keep up or step a side.
  20. I had the chance to ride an 04 YFZ out at Dumont... It had sand tires, Sparks exhaust (full sys) and it also had a new intake (similar to a pro-design w/ K&N filter) It flat out HAULS ass. If I had a choice I would buy the thumper. The suspension is excellent compared to the old technology of the banshee.. Dont get me wrong. I love my shee and all.. but after you sink big coin into it just to get it to handle better... the yfz will still kick its ass.. (im not talking about motor mods) In my opinion suspension mods should be the first thing done to any quad.. THEN motor/performance. The first thing I would add would be a steering stabilizer. It feels a little twitchy at high speeds and it wants to be ridden hard...
  21. I have front sand tires on or off wheels. 21x7x10 mohawks I also have a set of alum nerfs (DG) w/ blue nets off of a 99 banshee in good shape. I may even sell my 22x11x8 10 paddle haulers on or off wheels
  22. Brian; If you need any help with it let me know... flywheel puller or just tech help... They are actually a piece of cake to do...
  23. talk to Evil or Yamahammer... They just did all the shirts for roostfest... shipping would be the only issue...
  24. I will stand behind what boonman said 110% Something similar happened to me a few years ago.... I went the cheap ass way out and just put pistons in it... a month or so later I took out one cyl, head, and a brand new set of pistons from a main rod bearing failure. On a side note... There is no fast or easy way to bridgeport from your area.. Then you have to keep a close eye out for the popo on Rt8!
  25. I know they are not cheap... but the alpine star Tech8's are GREAT boots. They are VERY comfortable, and very flexable... I swear by them now. Only problem is they arent that cheap
