my mods are in my sig . but dual keihen 28's . neddle second from top and pilots unknownn sorry , writing this before work .running in the trails its seems perfect but as soon as i hit a decent hill or flat were i hit WOT it falls on its face and need to stop for a sec then its good to go again for a short burst . kinda feels like i drained all the gas out of the carbs . pulled plugs not really a brown kinda a burnt black not really grey and there is specks of stiuff on plugs . mains jetts are at 160 . the ride before this i was at 165 and it was way way to boggy and ive had before were if your too rich it looks lean because it washes the plugs .but besides that input would be nice on why its good short throttle burst in trail but once WOT it dies

Doing some reading on the forums and I guess the ideal jetting for pwk keihens is 160main and 45 polit. And I'm down to 145 and still showing rich. And with my mods I should be at the 160. So I'm thinking my spark is not keeping up when I hit high rpm that I'm just drowning the plugs and it can't keep up to the flow. Correct me if I'm wrong please. I bought a high output stator but it had and exrta wire coming off the coil packs then what was on the orignail stator and wiring. Does this extra wire go some were or can I splice it in with another power wire -

Well I cleaned the petcock and cleaned the carbs and did the floats and found the one carb that was giving me issues the pilot wsas dirty but got it back together and tried it out , ran good for couple mins up to 3rd gear then both cut out like bogged out stop firing. I changhed jetting went to 45 ilots for 48 and went to 148 main jet size. So I don't know if its a stator or coil problem can't put out the spark when big fuel loads go in or not. Still clueless what's going on -

vent hoses for carbs are clear , checking petcock today . whats is the floats messures is it 16 or 19 and you messure from carb bas were bowl sits to top of float before it pushes down the plunger right -
i just did a dune/play port and plus 4 timing , fmf pipes and cool head with 20cc domes , and i just put on 28 ' pwks . now my problem is i have 155 ain and 45 polid an clip in the middle , plugs look perfect . it runs good for about 2mins then one side cuts out like it ran out of gas just stops putting out power or any sound out of that pipe , and also when its under load like with two pepople on it or when i go up a steep hill it gets super boggy . any ideas . have i put on too small of carbs for my set up or do i need to run a daul petcock or something ,

so i did some up grades this winter and went to single carb to now dual 28's my mods are plus4 timing , mild port , fmf pipes , noss head 20cc domes , vforce reeds new stator. im at 1100ft above sea level . so my problem is i was at 170 main jet size and it was reall boggy at mid throttle and at the very top end one side would just cut out not pinging or anything just seem to cut out , so the needle was at second from the top so i couldnt really lean that out more and it was really boggy , and the plugs looked lean . so i went up to 172 and even worse so i remember hearing once if its to rictch the plugs will look lean . so i started going down im at 160 now top end problem is still there but know were as bad , and the plug looks alittle are better , so just asking should i keep going lower on main or is there another problem i should be worried about , plus what are other people running for jetting with similar mods .

I picked up a new bigger stator and it has an extra wire then what my plug has it 5 instade of 4. Is this normal and were can I wire that into or did I get screwed on the stator

i thought it was 19mm for 28pwks -
could the vent be pluged or something in side , im running 160 main 45 pilot and 3rd clip on kehin 28s
-
so here is my problem i go and ride my banshee just rebuilt and when it hits powerband after a few seconds both side shut off like the kill switch was hit and one side kinda purges and when i let off the gas for a couple seconds its good to nail it again for a second or two . plugs are good color , i got the floats messured the same tried changing around plug leads still same side , not lossing tanny oil , did pressure/leak test everything is fine , reeds are brand new
-
sent you a PM savage . i think i might have to split cases again and seal it real good
-
Yea I don't have a pressure tester. But yanked the cylinder off the rings were moving weren't stuck but found to wear marks one on each side of the exhaust port that run up the hole jug they arnt deep or anything just you can see lines run up about 1/2 in width running the length and over the honeing marks
-
Yea just got back from the ride still same problem as soon as I hit 3rd or 4th without being in powerband it nearly cuts out completly the one side and yea its leaving a lot of oil out the back to be just gas/oil mix. So l rip out the piston see if its the ring. Could it be a crank seal or case seal at all also
-
Yea the one oring was chewed up a bit and found a pilot jet loose nearly out so must of not tightend that. Is there anyway tranny oil can make it up the cylinder and out the pipe
-
I'm running 28 keihens so there in no choke tube. I've swapped plug wires and switched carbs half way through the ride from one side to the other and the one cylinder is still leaking gas out the left tapipe and as soon as I hit a hill total loss of power
-
Cable play off? Would a seized piston ring cause this problem. I had a problem were that piston wouldn't fire so could that be it. They are new carbs so their not dirty
-
So needing some help I've always been a single carb guy but back to duals now. So problem is when ever I'm low throttle or going up hill it bogs out and feels like one cylinder cuts out. I just rebuilt my engine and yes took it for a easy ride and it would bog out then let it sit for a few mins then it would be good again. One pipe is leanking gas out the back like crazy black oily type like its burning andf the plugs are dry when I yank them and a good color a dark brown so I'm clueless.
-
Well got the left side going but now the right side is lacking so hoping I didn't pitch a oring on that side putting it back together again.
-
How would the stator make the cylinders run unieven even after swapping the leads from on plug to the other
