  1. Well I can tell you that you are wrong. I have NEVER lost to a kawi and i ride with a couple of Honda's and NONE of them keep up with me, the honda's seem to have lower torque, but nothing on the top end like the LTR. The KTM's are faster, but they are $$$$. I would say that the YFZ has the slight power edge in the lower, but my LTR seems to have a better top end it seems to pull longer. I do agree with what you said on riders ability, thats where 90% of races are won or lost, but I rarely lose to a similar or slightly more modded 450 compared to mine. But, I have no problem taking on mild banshees. I drag a lot at the dunes so I do consider my-self to be a good rider, I win most of races off the launch. I am also fairly light at 155lbs, so that also helps. But let me put this out there. I AM NOT FLAMING banshees, I agree 100% banshees are the KING, thats why i am still here and still have wet dreams of building a hill-shooter and pop a boner when a drag banshee pulls up to the drag hill. I was just saying that the 450's are plenty capable of producing good power and they can compete with the banshee. It just takes a little work. ONE ONE
  2. I sold my Banshee a couple years ago and bought the LTR450, which I have to say I am VERY impressed with. Granted it doesnt have the arm ripping powerband, but it is fun to have power whenever you need/want it. I also had a banshee that was not reliable, I think it spent more time being towed back to camp then it did running. So just based off reliability alone I am happy about my choice. I ride dunes 99% of the time and so I have matched up against many banshees. It takes a decent modded banshee to keep up with me and I have very limited mods. As far as power goes, I would say the Honda is bottom of the pack in the 450 class. Like what has been stated, it takes a lot of mods to make the honda 450 compete with the others. With that said, I have seen some Hondas at the dunes that will smoke anything out there but they are high dollar machines. I too was skeptical about 4-strokes but I must say that I am stoked on my LTR still. I will build another banshee for a hill-shooter someday but as far as all-around fun at the dunes, track, or trails, I would pick my LTR. ONE

    L.S Utah

I was thinking of taking my girl and quad to L.S this coming weekend, (oct. 17th-18th). The weather is suppose to be good here in Salt Lake, 70's. I am just curious if anyone else is thinking of going up, and/or is it still good riding this time of year? let me know if anyone wants to meet up. ONE
  4. Thats a cool pic of all the dune locations. Just goes to show, there is nothing good about the east coast. No big mountains, no sand! Who would want to live there? ONE
  5. I read somewhere that 7lbs removed is about the same as adding 1hp. So, i dont know if this actually true, it may have been someone blowing smoke up my ass, but it seems true. I am a little guy, 5'8 160 and I seem to kill other people that have similar mods. When we go to the dunes, my bro will let me ride his bike if he cant beat someone when he is on it, he is 6'0 and 200ish. It makes a BIG difference, if the race was close with him on it, I will usually pull 2-3 bikes on them when I am on his. PEACE ONE
  6. I had a buddy that would break his stuff in just like he rode it. He was a crazy kid and never took it easy on stuff. He usually had one of the faster bikes, and I started to break my stuff in like him and have had no problems. When i bought my 07 LTR450 I took it to the track and took a few easy laps and then just got on it WOT. And now when i go to the dunes or wherever, I can usually take any LTR that has same or similar mods. And of course i kill everything else.... Tell him to not be a pussy and go for it... However, my quad really did not "wake up" till about 15-20 hours were put on. So, its not gonna be a real race till he is properly broke in. ONE
  7. I need an older bike to get around town on. My truck is killing me with gas and now my job is relocating and I will now be about 20 miles away. I could care less how the bike looks, as long as it gets me from A to B. If anyone has old bike they would be willing to part with, or any ideas on what kind of bike to look into. I really dont want to spend more then $500-$600. was the RZ that had the 350 two-stroke, where could i find one of those? any help appreciated ONE
  8. I am assuming he is talking mx, it takes A LOT for a banshee to compete on the track with an LTR. The LTR is a sick quad. I would recommend it over any other 450, maybe the YFZ, but other then that, nothing else really compares. Good in the dunes, lots of power, easy and cheap to mod, awesome on the track, overall an awesome quad. ONE
  9. I dont know what you are smoking, but pass it this way please... They were either shity riders or didnt know they were racing. ONE
  10. Stock vs Stock, he will be beat you off the line and till the end of the race. Once you start modding you will have a better chance. ONE
  11. My bro has a HMF and that would be my FIRST choice as well. Easy to maintain, awesome power, and sounds great. One of my buddies races and builds a lot of quads and his favorite for the YFZ is the HMF. I would strongly recommend it. ONE
  12. Just fix it up so it does not look like any other banshee out there. Or if your really worried about it, buy a new frame and do an engine swap. But, i agree with whats been said, if they did not do anything right then or by now, you should be good. ONE
  13. Yeah, i really dont see this happening, its kinda like trying to get a top-fuel dragster to compete with a Nascar on the oval. Just wont happen. The new 450's will smoke you on a track, unless you do suspension mods. Don't worry about the power as much right now, put your money into suspension, steering, etc... Even if you just put pipes on it, the power will be there for the track, but the handling will take $$$$$$$$$ ONE
  14. Wholy shit, this is a old thread... Anywho I might as well give an update. I have had my LTR for a while now and I must admit I love it, it is fun as hell to ride. I ride 99% dunes and I think it does awesome in the dunes. I always had a blast on my shee but the LTR is one hell of a good quad. For those of you that think they have no powerband, you could not be more wrong, granted it does not have the arm-ripping power band like the banshee, but it does have a pretty impressive powerband, but unlike the banshee it makes power all they way through. I know i know, save yourselfs the trouble, i know banshees are "capable" of making low end power, but it will NEVER compare to the newer 4-strokes. I would not give my LTR up for anything. And no I am not trader, I have bought another banshee and I am in the process of rebuilding. We will see how it compares to the LTR when its done, I am however making this one more of a hillshooter. So it will smoke the LTR in a straight line. LiftdT4R... I have been a member for a long while now, Just because i bought another quad doesn't mean I am just going to leave this site, I will always have a soft spot for banshees. lata ONE
