  1. thanx for the input i think im gonna give it a try i already have the axle pipes filter and a coolhead for some power out of the corners  a-arms and shocks will be ordered in feb i figured aboiut 1200 for front suspension.  what is the best setup for sproket size and tire size and rim size i make i decent $ and for the rest therese always credit cards let me know what you guys are runnin with  also is anybody here racin in the NEPA area

I have the same mods as you and I run 20x11x10 razrs w/ a 15t front sprocket. I when I get it ported I'm going to a 16.

  2. I've got 837.00$ in my front end.... Quicksand +2+1 a-arms($525.00) and used set of elkas($312.00). Some peeps pay that just for the shocks alone..... mx ain't cheap. You know the saying: "Speed cost money...... How fast you wanna go??" Well it applys to mx too.

  3. you really dont need axles and width to fly on a track, you need to drop it with good shocks that can soak up the obsticles, so you can smoke around corners(you might have to lean a little more with a shorter axle) i run a stock axle on my mx bike, with offset itp's, but im also 9inches off the ground and am pounding really off camber lines, the wider axle pitches you around and slows you down, and id rather my axle bend than my nice -2 swingarm, but i have to go with mike, i would rather have a killer suspension and chassis than anything else, my motor, i might be at 6000 rpm and a stock motor be at 8000 rpm, but if i cant hang on for mx it wouldnt matter if i had a sewing machine motor or F-22 engine, soon as i really haul ass im gonna eat it..... if i had a dragster in a stock chassis and could say pull 90 seconds around a short mx track, give me a stock pipe and motor with a -2 swingarm, +2 aarms a inch or 2 forward and killer shocks, i can do that same lap in a minute flat....

I tend to agree with you on this now....Learing alot being on the HQ....The suspension and chassis mods are critical esp around a MX track!!

I might still do the timing and/or Reeds soon, but my next MAJOR modification/upgrade will definately be some SHOCKS then possibly some +2 a-arms later :D

I just nutted up and ordered (waiting on pay-pal money request)a set of quicksand +2+1 a-arms and a used lsr axle. Not cheap by any means at all... but for 100$ you could do a mod that few have heard of unless there seriously into mx... a guy on here by the name of mrmatt will cut your stock swingarm for you for 100$+shipping. If I had to do it all over again my mods would go: -2.5 swingarm, Pipe&filter, shocks....... I like it that much. Just make sure you don't skimp out on the shocks... if you want to go big you don't neccasarly have to pay big either. I picked up my front elkas for 312$ to the door.

  4. A good start would be waiting 2 years untill your "legal" to ride the 'shee.... that is if your planing to go to an actual "race" instead of some backyard derby. Other than that you need a big checkbook, a couple magazines and a set of brass balls.

  5. "The Rod" Just about hit the nail on the head, but I'll throw my .02 in here just for the hell of it. I firmly believe that for 4 persons that buy works 1 buys a set of elkas, axis, pep, ohlins etc... The main reason for that is that is well....... the shit ain't cheap. Also the majority of quad riders are "rec. riders" in there case the works shocks will make them more than happy. But when it comes time to get down to business on an mx track the higher end shocks will go harder and longer that the works will. I for one can tell a big difference in shocks that have rezzies compared to ones that don't. Then again, I'm not excactly a rec. rider. To sum it up, if you spend 60%or more of your time just cruising around in trails, roads, open fields etc.. then a set of dual-rate works w/ piggy backs will do you more than good. On the other hand if you want to get nasty with it on an mx track or freestyle jumps spend the extra penny and get yourself some high-end shocks.

  6. I've have tried just about every "sport" that there is to try from fishing to polo <_< and I can say that w/out a doubt that 10 HARD laps around a rough mx track will gut check you like no other sport can do.... no even double over time in football. If your serious about mx, get you a GOOD PAYING job and start flipping magazine pages and screening ebay. Get some pipes and a filter (that's it for the motor.....trust me), then grab you some nice shocks, axle, 2+1 a-arms, -2 swingarm, some new rubber, 15t sprocket, nerfs, #plates and a pair of brass balls.

  8. well jim most of the newer consoles are hybrid solid state boards, i find as you introduce more signal into the stereo buss they tend to garble, you have to consider 24 outboard devices all with stereo returns so theres 48 channels gone just bringing fx's back into the console, maybe 12 drum tracks a few bass upto 8 gtr tracks, keyboards, vocals, a typical mix you could be monitoring over 100 inputs all slammed into a solid state stereo buss, that introduces tons of noise into the air of the mix, U2's engineer and producer are not known for sonic purity.....there shitt is muddy.....i use the same consoles to attract my clients but since the console has 4 stereo busses and an 8 channel surround matrix, i take and strip the class "A" busses from older Neve consoles that dont have the bells and whistles of todays consoles and basicly customise the buss of the newer desk, you can slamm the buss with little to no destortion.....in my case ive been a drummer for 35 years, and well know the art of making a drum kit sound punchie and tight long before i mike them up, the drums and bass need to be clean and tight....i then ramp them up using again a class "A" compressor and put those in your face in the mix i also use a limiter so i can ramp the signal up with out clipping the main signal path, after that is easy to toss some vocals and other instruments into my mix...in my biz people choose you to track or mix there record cause they like your "sound"..people use my rooms for the same reason, they like what they can create using my studio...the best engineer in the world cant make a shitty console sound good, people used to say its all in whos spinning the knobs i find that to be untrue...i say your shit can only sound as good as the output of the console....some artist like U2 will go just set up some gear in a castle and try to mix there, therefore they thinks it sounds good but even the air in the room changes the sound...how much reverbaration is present in the room when you mix?..tuning a room is an art as well......i can take a mix from my studio to my car or home and say to my self yep thats how loud i had the bass or yeah thats the eq i used on the entire mix......so lots of things come into play before you hear it...when they were mixing it probally sounded good to them, then a mastering guy eqed and compressed it for compact disc.....and your listening to it in digital which is more brill than analog.......all kinda stuff factors in to make a record suck..........my tip is trash the U2 disc the bastards suck anyhow

WOW!!! :o:blink: , and I thought I was in to audio stuff. OH ya, take duece's advice about U2.....terrible noise pollution.

  10. I'm tired of my got damd civic (aka "beer can") so I'm gonna sell it and dip off into a truck. I know at least 85% of the peeps on here have a pickup of some sort so I would like to hear some opinions. I would like to have a tacoma but I don't want to spend over 7500$ b/c I want to pay it off by the time I got to tech school in september. I don't care if it's ford/chevy, but I need a 4wd. For some reason lifted z71's just give me a chubby... anybody have a z71 in here?? What motor do you have in it?? What about the older moldel ford 4x4's... how's the power in them?? I won't be pulling over 10,000lbs. Sorry about the book.
