  1. Alright guys, I would also like to try to make it, but if I do I'll be on my own. I'd like to try to hook up with some of you. I've never ridden out there and have been wanting to. I'm probably 3 or 4 hours away. Later.
  2. Yeah, sorry. I always get this winter/summer crap confused. I've still got it backwards. I run a 180 in the summer, and the change is so minor here that I left it in for the winter, and mixed a 32:1 mixture (usually a 40:1).
  3. I don't know how cold its been there recently, but Castor 927 will seperate when it gets around 40. Even around 50 or so, that oil thickens a little and will work its way down some and get your bike to smoke. I've learned to deal with it in the winter. Its been getting down into the 20's here, so I shake my machine to mix it a little. It always starts rich and smokes quite a bit. You might try running a 40:1 during the winter. I'm not saying thats your problem, but just keep that in mind and make sure your machine is warm when you check it. If not, you could be jetting it with a rich mixture (oil sitting at the bottom of the tank) and when it warms, you'll be leaner than you jetted for. Make sense?
  4. I was in a hurry when I posted last. When you do the wide open throttle test. Get the bike in the tallest gear possible with the throttle wide freaking open, like 6th and get the rpms going, then kill the motor (be sure to pull the clutch in ). Then pull both plugs and look at the color. Thats how you check your main jet. Tell us what you see and we'll help you figure out where you need to be. Scott
  5. One thing, when you go up in carb sizes, your main jets will get smaller due to the size of the carb. I was at 310 with my stock carbs, I run a single 35mm now and am at a 180, with dual 34s you may be at 160 or something like that. Make sense? Banchetta knows his shiznit when it comes to jetting too, I'm sure he's right. 34mm carbs are big honkers and generally can be overkill for general riding/mx. Take it easy and let us know when you get your compression numbers.
  6. uuuh, yeah, I knew that. awww, where the mind goes.
  7. Hey man, I didn't mean that I thought you were lying, I just meant that paint looks a lot like the stock piant, the hammered finish is pretty cool.
  8. Hell, getting the 28s and boring them is always an option, and good for saving some money if you get them cheap.
  9. Shipped for $125 is as low as I'll go for both shocks. The headlight, bumper and nerfs are pending at this moment, I'll let you know.
  10. You can find 30's and 32's. With his setup, it won't matter too much. Unless your dragging or mainly sand, I'd try to stay away from a 35mm or maybe 34mm, because its going to really push your top end. 30mm might be a little on the small side, if you get a 32mm you'll be set up. A lot of people run a 34mm and it works great, so that may be a good route for you. This is mainly an oppinionated type of topic. Everybody does things a little different based on their needs and tastes. Good luck, and I'm sure you can't go wrong with a 30 or even a 34.
  11. Well, we can't tell you that. You'll have to check your plugs, run your bike at wide open throttle and kill the motor, check your plugs and see if they are lean or rich. They should be real dark, borderline black. If they are light brown, then 290 is too lean and you'll need to try a 300 or go back to 310. Play with that and find the right jet for your conditions and setup.
  12. what he said. Remember to wrap your bike up some also. BigBlue, do you know the chick in your avatar, I hope thats your gf/wifey...
  13. What about the Ricochet stuff, anybody using that?
  14. You could probably pull a little higher main jet, like a 300 or so, but nobody here could tell you that. You have to check it yourself to see where your at and if your rich or lean to know exactly what you need. Do a search on jetting and how to jet, and you'll get more than enough reading material to last you the week. Scott
  15. This is a one-time-offer. Abso-frigging-lutely FREE!!!
  16. Remember to do your wide open throttle test, if that passes. I'd ride it the way you do normally and check it again. That will give a good real world test. You dont' always ride wot, but don't let it idle for 5 minutes after your riding and then check, cut it off while your riding and check.
  17. damn, that's what i was going to say.
  18. wiring it like I mentioned will allow you to use the pd kill as the switch. On my bike, if I remove the tether, the bike can't be started. I also have the luxury of just reaching over and flipping the off switch so I don't have to pull the tether everytime I want to turn it off. Remember on the stock banshee, you can turn it off with the switch (under the lights) or the key. Simply connect the wires from the key switch to the wires from the kill switch, and there you go. If you don't want the switch under the lights just remove it and connect the two wires on that switch.
  19. I'd hold out for some 30's. Depends on what riding you do. If you drag or dune, hold out for some 34's. If you trail and mx, then 30's would be good. I'm afraid that the 2mm difference won't be substantial enough to warrant the dough. From looking at the stuff on your bike, I'd say your ready for some carbs, just make it worth it.
  20. Here is a very sweet extensive article on prepping and painting plastic. Painting your quad.
  21. I need some free sh*t, especially stuff I can sell and make some sweet dough. Free beer is also welcomed. Uuuh, I'm not too picky, so just let me know.
  22. Only one way to find out, you can't hurt a motor by going richer. If your plugs are black and oily, thats only for one reason, well, unless you mix a 10:1 premix, that might be a problem. Hell, throw in a 300 and see what happens. I'd never say I'm an expert by any means. One thing, you need to run your machine at wide open throttle in the highest gear you can get it in at high rpms, and kill the motor to check the plugs. This will rule in or out on your main jet. If its not oily, and its only oily at partial throttle, you might only have a pilot jet problem.
  23. Head - $30.00 Front Shocks $ - 75.00 (each) They have some dirt on the top, but don't have 30 hours on them, probably much less, and they had shockwears on them, and it probably rubbed them some. Carbs - $75.00 They are in a box, and I need to go find them. They are perfect condition, as long as I can find them and take pics. Sorry, the rear shock has already been sold. I'll try to get pics of the head and carbs.
  24. Magicracing has steel sprockets down to 39 for $20.00 and fronts up to 17 teeth. Here's the link for the rear.
  25. Man, I think I'd start at 300 on the main. No offense spoin, but I personally think 280 might be a touch lean, I'd figure he'll end up at 290 or 285. My experience is squat, so don't listen to me, but its better to be a touch rich and back it off to perfect, than even hit it right on still back it off to a lean condition or hit it right on and richen it to see and end up where you started. Just my opinion. Scott
