  9. so you don't have pipes to put on yet? whatcha got, the stockers? when are the new pipes coming or are they ordered yet? that portwork ain't gonna work for shit with the stock pipes. the portwork will really let it rev and those pipes are gonna say hell no, we ain't goin there.
  10. Just something I wanted to add to this since it's been bumped back up. I always use nasty ass used plugs for readings. They've been broken in and been colored and to me, it seems they color the best and the easiest. Also, I always try to put 20 or 30 minutes on a set of plugs, especially new, before I try to take a plug reading to make sure they're nice and warmed up, except if I'm worried it's really lean, then I'll just do what i gots to do.
  11. I don't know if dropping the needle is what you need. Are you at WOT when the sputter occurs before the powerband, or at mid throttle? It sounds like 340 could be a tad rich that's why I'm asking. Have you run a wot plug check to see the color of the plugs, that will ultimately tell you where the problem lies. I'd say throw some 330s and see if it clears up.
  12. Man, as long as your within 170 to 180, you should be alright. I'd say throw a 175 or 180 in there with the needle in the 3rd clip and you should be good to go. 180 is possible but would be on the richer side, and 180 should be rich enough and better rich than lean if you can't run a plug check. Put the pilot in there that will get you starting and idling properly. Later.
  13. could be an air leak causing the backfire and what superchick said is some other possibilities. the not being able to kick over thing scares me some. i'd probably take that shit apart and look it over and put it back in making sure it was right. not saying it's wrong, but it worked before, now it won't kick over, there maybe something going on there. just a thought.

  15. this can sometimes be confusing, so let me try to see if i get it out right. raising the needle/lowering the clip will richen. lowering the needle/raising the clip will lean. typically, we refer to the clip when discussing needle adjustments, because it's easier and we don't confuse each other. so, stock is 3rd clip from the top/blunt end. to richen one, go to the 4th clip from the top/blunt end. also, it doesn't hurt to play with the clip settings. richen it one and see how it feels. if you like it go one more. if you get to a point that it gets worse, lean it back one and you know where shee likes it. hope that makes sense? let us know if you have any more questions.

  17. damn, sorry to hear that. i went through a similar deal 5 weeks ago. take 'er easy and you'll be back to new in no time. the nurse said she was gonna cut my shirt off. i was wearing one of my favorite fox tees and i told her if she cut my shirt, she'd better get her ass runnin cause i'd be on that like white on rice. she finally decided to let me pain through lifting it off. no f'ing way she was cutting my shirt.
  18. Yeah, could be. Could be lean also. We really can't tell you, only thing we can tell you is if your close or not, and your probably pretty close. The jets your running should be enough to get you a decent reading on the plugs. The ONLY way to know for sure what the proper jetting is is through a plug check. Read BenBB's Jetting FAQ for more info on checking plugs and jetting. Then adjust the needle up or down for response and most power.

  21. Well, 110 isn't the greatest, but it should fire and start up. Have you checked the slides? Does she have spark with the plugs out of the cylinder?
