i get your theory and your theory is right. regarding the pilot, you don't want it so rich that it'll cold start without the choke. If you can cold start it w/o the choke, then go down one more size and see how shee is, she just might be perfect.
-
That's what YOU ran, but that's not necessarily where everyone should be and I'd much rather be at 300 and rich than 260 and lean. In fact, that's about the leanest jets I've heard of running Fatties. It's also very easy to confuse lean with perfect because a lean machine can often seem like it's running great, especially if your not familiar with what to look for. However, if your a little on the rich side, it might sputter some and you'll know what's up. More or less, you can tell with this thread, every machine runs different and all we can give you is an "area" to start at, and you'll have to dial her on in based on your readings. It is much better to start out richer rather than leaner, because you have no chance of damaging the motor with a rich condition.
-
Well, you do still get more protection than with clamp ons, that's for sure. I have the back 2 inches cut off for added airflow and I can hit some big water and no probs.
-
if you kick it over and it doesn't start, is there a lot of fuel on the plugs?
-
damn! sorry to hear that and glad that the "news" isn't any worse. hope you've come out alright. yep. that's a weird situation you got there. trying the other carb and all. my first inclination, of course, is jetting but you seemed to have covered that. but if you have to use carb spray, that still tells me the fuel isn't getting into the chamber or the compression is too weak for proper combustion. your compression is good, better than mine. so, i was asking about your top end because I was wondering if you were having a petcock/filter/float issue. i'll have to think about it.
-
I want an airbox lid that is uncut and free of holes. I want it to close my airbox when washing. I know, I can use a plastic bag or some other bullshit, which i've been doing for awhile now and I'm sick of it. One airbox lid is all I need.

Sup bro. Don't get in here for a long time and when you need something, you hop right back in huh? j/k. How's it been goin? You need to come up and ride with us sometime. I'm wondering what your compression is? It's not starting, your using carb cleaner to get her started and she is lean, popping and falls flat in the low range. How "well" does it run at full throttle up in the rpm range? And, will it start if you hold the throttle wide open while kicking?
-
his sig mentions on the bottom that he has TCS dual rates. that banshee would be mine if he'd race my little eton already.
-
That's the most ridiculous think I've heard. You'd mill a head to increase the compression in the combustion chamber, but then that's one of the benefits of buying a coolhead, so you don't have to mill a head and get added cooling, and you'd f that all up by milling it.

I run a 15/41 no probs with no porting. It pulls hard as hell from top to bottom. With a 15/41, you'd hit 86.7 mph @ 10,000rpm with 20" tires.

Your probably pretty good. you can't go off of the tip of the porcelain for a plug reading. I personally like some color there as well, but it's not the place to be looking unless your checking for detonation. if your base ring is dry brown/black, then it sounds ok.

who can ship a atv across country ?

Old Dominion -
Try a 16/40.

Do a search for BenBB. When you find him, follow the link in his sig to his website, find the homepage and he has an excel worksheet that will tell you the mph with the given front & rear sprockets along with the selected tire size. The only thing mods do for your top speed is allow you to pull a higher gear and rev out a little better with certain mods. Your top speed is 100% limited to your rpms. If you want a higher top speed, then you need to gear up, and then you have to have the power to pull the higher gear. You could a gear quite a bit taller than stock with your machine. But like I said, get the excel file and plug the numbers in yourself and you'll know what your machine can do.

Pipes smoking or not has nothing to do with it. As far as the plug color, where are you taking this reading from? You want the base ring to have a dark dark brown borderline black color. You also want to have a ring of the same color down at the base of the porcelain, you might have to cut away the threads to see it, hence the name plug chop. For more info, check out the Banshee HQ FAQ section.

Don't know if I'd go 45 on that thing. Nice buy, it'd be a kick to play around on.

Maybe ebay can check into the IP for you and compare the two.

I have the same pipes and carb setup, although I'm running PowerCore II Silencers. That setup works extremely well together, it's almost as if the pipes were designed around that single carb setup. You'll have awesome mid and really good top end for duning, plus in the tight stuff you'll have enough low to actually lug it around trees if need be. Once your all setup, a coolhead, or Noss head, is another great addition. It will add some extra punch and wake your motor up some, plus help flow the coolant. Shoot for 150 lbs. of compression. The mods are endless, loads of cheap mods as well. You can mod your stator plate to achieve +4 degrees of timing for free and that helps a little. It's also a good idea to replace your water pump impeller with a billet Pro Design one, you can pick one up for under $40 off of Ebay and replace it easy. It will cool better and the stocker has been known to break, or even melt if you overheat it. While we're on cooling, replace all your coolant with Engine Ice for a drop of about 50 degrees. Handlebars, gotta get some more comfortable ones, the stockers are crap. Steering Stabilzers are also good things to have, for around 100 bucks, they'll keep your arms loose. For Sand: Douglas .160's and ITP Sand Stars are great sand tires. For Dirt: Use the stock rims or Douglas .190's and Maxxis Razr rears with Razr2 Fronts, great handling setup.

FMF Fatties I agree with. Great all around pipe. I can lug her in the trails some and then just hit it and be goooone. They are also great in the sand. As far as air intake, get the Toomey 2 into 1 setup. Great flow and a nice setup.

anybody crazy enough to take a shee muddin
sredish replied to MudSlinger09's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I try to avoid it, but sometimes you just gotta say f*^k it. -
DMC 2 into 1 = great low, great mid, no top FMF Fatties = decent low, great mid, good top so decide on where your riding is at, and where you need the power and go from there.
-
If it's just a flat bog, sounds like it's lean. If you had it too rich, then when it hit half throttle or so, it'd sputter and potentially foul if you kept pushing it. That doesn't seem to be the case here. Try a 380 and see what shee does. It's possible you may have an air leak causing it to run leaner than it should.
-
I'd buy them, but my foot is a 12, plus, my Eton pegs are a little too small. Later.
-
Yeah, i don't see a reserve either. He has a lot of dough in that bike. That would be a very nice bike to have, gotta love powervalves.
-
could be a hundred things, but a few things: you may be running lean and causing it to get hotter than it normally does. could be the impeller isn't flowing anymore if you have a service manual, it should have a troubleshooter in the back that will help you diagnose the issue.
