  1. 280 to 300 is good, I'd say 290 is a good place to start. Put the needles in the 3rd or 4th clip. Air screw, try 1.5 to 2 turns but you'll have to play with it to fine tune it. What pilot is in there?
  2. as was said, did you check the compression after the rebuild? then go to the carbs, looking for syncing problems. what about the crossover tube, that can be looked over sometimes as well after a rebuild....
  3. all he needs is 2 packs of yamaha rings, otherwise, a new set of pistons and rings.
  4. don't bore it just for the sake of it, there's only so many you can do and you want it to last forever. if it doesn't need a bore job, don't do it. you can just rering it or if it makes you more comfortable, put new pistons and rings in it, then hone it and reassemble.
  5. just because it looks good doesn't mean there's not a loss in compression. if there's a problem in the cylinder then you waited way too long. if all is fine, which is good and means you caught it at the right time, then get some new rings and slap it all back together. if you have a service manual, you can check the specs and mic the piston to make sure it's in spec and measure the cylinder bore to make sure it's in spec. basically from what you've said, get some new rings and get the cylinders honed, slap it together, it should be golden.
  6. That sounds great. do you still have the jigs and willing to do the modification? What modification is necessary, I don't think I ever got that part? So, we'd need the YFZ arms and shocks, then the spacers, modify the arms somehow then pair them back up with the Banshee spindles and hook on some YFZ tie rods and we're good to go. Once done, on the Banshee, are the shocks stiffer or softer than the stock Banshee setup and how does it compare to when the setup is on the YFZ? Anyone do any revalves of the shocks?
  7. yea, my RS 200 watter went out after about a year and a half, luckily, I always carried my stocker in my toolbox.
  8. Yea, I think it's NYUK.... hell, i'm barely in my 30s.. although, i could see led using some ben gay here and there......
  9. the reeds go in the cylinder, then spacer, then boot then carb.
  10. I desperately want a Graydon 2-1 intake pipe. Don't care if there's a carb to go with or not, I can handle that part.
  11. i'm a big fan of airstrykers, i feel they're a little more responsive than their standard pwk counterparts. i was running a 35mm single PWK and switched to a 35mm PWK A/S and there was an improvement in response and vacuum in the low and midrange, as I was able to go from the EEK to the DEK and have a crisper throttle.
  12. good to know. where you running race with the 20cc domes? you had the timing pretty advanced at that stage as well, right?
  13. my pipe list, in order (and this is for stock bore/stroke, dune/trail type port): Paul Turner Hi Revs - (my ultimate fave), good low / mid with excellent rev out. There are others that might out rev top end but none that are smoother. FMF Fatties - great all around pipe that responds super well to porting and further mods Pro Circuits - another great pipe that produces good midrange and top end and responds well with work. Paul Turner Mids (for woods/trail use only) - ungodly smooth and torquey, turns the banshee into a stump puller. I've used quite a few of them and these are the ones that stick out to me.
  14. I'm lovin those charts snope. what compression or what domes were you running on those charts?
  15. I like to think out loud sometimes... Don't worry I'll be doing a compression check and if I know me, I'll be going back in with some Pro Lites and the whole deal. I'll probably ride it for a month or so while I obtain parts then go at it all at once; pipes, head, carb, porting, pistons and reeds. I also know how I am and know the road I'll be going down... god help me.
  16. you'll want a 200w stator if your going higher voltage. benefit is more wattage for lighting or electronics.... and snop, maybe I'm mistaken but I thought it was 75 watt, I'm sure I'm wrong tho, it's been awhile. On my old bike, I ran a 200w stator and used 2 Hella off road lights with 75w bulbs in each and it was pretty damned bright.
  17. shit, don't remember now, maybe it's an 06.
  18. it is if you want to up the wattage, otherwise, not necessary unless you just need to replace it.
  19. looking at picking up a low hour 07 quad. this thing literally can't have more than a couple hours. I want to get the cylinders ported pretty quickly. You all think I should go ahead and put new rings in during reassembly or just go with it with the original stuff. My thoughts were to just pull the jugs, send em off and then reassemble and not replace anything in there, hell, nothing's had time to wear. then, you all know me. i have to go with a 2-1 carb setup, that's just my style. and finish it off with some Fatties or T5s, haven't decided yet. I'd prefer some PT Hi Revs but those are hard to find and I don't want to give Duncan all my dough.
  20. not replacing anything... i still love my 2 hondas... my wife's has turned into my main beater while mine has gotten pretty modified to where it's not the best trail / woods machine, so it'd be nice to pick up another 'backup' to have some fun with. this one is an 07 LE purchased new by a friend of my wife's and can't have more than an hour or two on it. So, good opportunity for a nice, 'new' quad. I'd love it if Ben would set it up RZ style for me....
  21. yea, i'm there with ya on the busy schedule. it's just crazy. i'm looking at picking up another banshee soon maybe. this is my first time coming on here in maybe 6 or 7 months.... i generally make it on once every 4 to 6 months.... my new regular haunt is trx450r.org but if I get this banshee, i'll probably be back on quite a bit.... we'll see.
  22. Brandon.... What the f*&k is goin on BIG DAWWWG!!! Sounds like you need to learn how to use a zipper..... or at least a condom bro...
  23. its easy to buy a different bar rather than a snickers and its easy to buy a coke zero over a regular coke. a little bit here and there add to a lot. the way I see it, I skimp where I easily can so I have room for the necessities (a few beers here and there or that piece of pie). cutting fat is a big part of it as well.
