  1. We're getting off the subject. As far as CDI, I'm running the stocker. I haven't seen any hard proof that spending alot of money on an ignition will improve my times, unless its something exotic i.e. Wilburn or Motec. Likewise for the Nology coil. My brother has one and our motors run identical. It's a toss up as to who will win on any given pass. Mine starts just as easily as his, idles the same as his and throttle response is really no concern of ours. The throttle is wide open from yellow light till the end of the run. Letting off is not an option! I was contemplating the Dave Moore TNT ignition but it is no longer available unless Dave himself is building your motor and he is allowed to tune it. Too many people bought it, installed it and proceeded to go out and burn up their motors, then blamed the ignition.
  2. Nitrous is the lazy mans way of making big hp. I believe it should only be used when you are completely out of options as far as motor and it is being used by every other competitor in your class. I could put nitrous on my bike now and win every local race I enter, but that would only prove that I dont have the resources or patience to build and tune a competitive, normally aspirated motor.
  3. Wes and I talked it over and he's gonna let me borrow his dyna for the PS drags next yr. If it does indeed provide the 6 bike gain that you guys say, I should run somewhere in the 3.6 sec range and will no doubt clean house in my class. I guess theres really no point in building a motor any bigger than a 4mil after installing the dyna either, cause I run with most 10mils as it is, so anything short of building a triple will prolly just be pissing in the wind. Can't wait to collect my winnings, thanks for this awesome tip guys! :yelrotflmao:
  4. If you line up two 4mil cubs, 1 on alky, 1 on gas, better give the dude with gas a damn good pair of goggles cause he's gonna be eating sand for 600ft. If you wanna go fast, ditch the gas. It takes 5 mins tops to purge with the right purge bottle.
  5. I've witnessed Boyesens on stock cages pull almost 5 hp more than VF2's on the dyno. Not saying it'll happen everytime, but it did happen one time.
  6. Told ya it was gonna rain.
  7. T-5's respond better to motor work than the T-6's will. You didn't give your elevation so I'll help as best I can with my elevation (1000ft). 400 mains are too rich, try somewhere in the low 300's. Since you say its too rich on the bottom, try dropping the needle a couple notches (raise the clip towards the blunt end). Different pistons will make no difference. Good Luck.
  8. Excellent technical advice Steve! I was already aware of all this information due to my long background with MX bikes but I'm sure there are many others on here who could use the information. If I can add one tip to your write up. There should be some freeplay at the lever as well. As a rule of thumb if you can slide a nickel between the lever and perch it is adjusted properly there as well. I'm not saying one clutch is better than the others (although in Hondas I have had better luck with stock parts than any aftermarket brand), just that I bought the expensive clutch as insurance. It was set up according to the write up and all the parts were in excellent shape. For one reason or another it turned purple after only a couple times at the strip which led me to believe that a lockup was in order. Since installing it, I have seen no more evidence of wear or slippage, hence the recommendation.
  9. Right or wrong, I think I'll leave it as it is. Sure does seem to run down the track at a good pace. I think even Jeff will attest to that!
  10. Hmm...guess I don't know how to set em up cause my cub on gas turned the plates purple before I went to a lockup. Didn't really know there was a science to it!
  11. Screw it, not like its gonna sell on here anyway.
  12. I have a bare +10 roundhousing "NO LINK" swingarm for sale. I bought it new in May and used it for 3 races. It has new bearings in front. $150 shipped.
  13. I believe its between 1000 and 1100cc. I'm not sure of the exact numbers as I haven't read thru the thread over at PS for some time. It'd be fun to be able to afford to build something like that.
  14. We're on the other side of Missouri. 30 miles north of KC.
  15. I do believe you can get a lockup cover in black. They don't really look different than the stocker, just half inch wider. Its the only way you're gonna get all 70hp to the ground and keep a clutch in it.
  16. The gears are beveled so that they will slide together easier and shift drum is modified extensively. The pin on the shift star for 6th gear is also removed so that there is no chance of going into sixth.
  17. I've got a set of 10" red labels, they have sand sharks mounted on em right now. Make me the right offer and you can have the whole setup. I'm looking to clean out everything I don't use anymore.
  18. I was actually never a fan of Yamahas, but I do own a '05 Grizzly. It has pretty well impressed me since day one. Everyone else seems to have it covered in at least one category, but I have yet to come across a big 4X4 that is the complete package like the Grizz, for the price. They can be bought out the door around here for $5900. Very fun bike and dependable bike to own.
  19. Everybody has an off day.
  20. Pulling the rear tires closer together gives you better traction, which in turn makes the bike go straighter. It also gives you more control with just body english as it puts more weight on each tire as you move your body to one side or the other. It is definitely the best setup for drag racing!
  21. Personally, I could care less about the smell or carbon. No smoke smells good, and my motors usually dont have time to carbon up before they are rebuilt. As long as the oil does its job and keeps the sumbitch from blowing up I'm happy. Honestly, who sniffs their gas or exhaust and thinks to themselves, OMG that smells good?
  22. Go with a 22 in tire with 10 paddle. I've got a +10 swinger for sale if you decide to go longer.
  23. Heres 10, not really ranked though; 1. Led Zeppelin 2. Metallica 3. Nirvana 4. Tool 5. Breaking Benjamin 6. Adema 7. Seether 8. Linkin Park 9. Three Days Grace 10. AC/DC (even though they're played out, I'll give em credit in the top 10)

    7 Mill cub

I believe Holeshot on here had one in a drag frame, it seemed to run hella good last time I saw it. Might try to get ahold of him, perhaps he can answer some of your questions.
