I used that shit for years in bikes and never had one problem with a motor, and know people who still use it. I'm bettin your buddies bike woulda blown up no matter what oil he was using. Gotta place the blame somewhere I guess.
I'm thinkin a heavier flywheel would help in motocross as it would have less tendency to stall in sharp corners and improve traction coming out of corners (less tendency to light the tires up). If your hookin up your makin time on someone who isn't.
Here are the directions to get to the drags;
Go west of Atchison Ks 8.5 miles on US 73 to US hwy9
go south on 9 highway and the highway will curve to the west, come west for 1 mile and the track is on the north side of the highway.
If you are coming from the west go to Effingham KS and go east out of town on US159 it is about 3 miles until you get to US 9 Junction go East the road is curvey so don't panic, just stay on 9 highway for another 4 miles and the track is on northside of highway
If coming from the south, go to Nortinville KS and come north on US159 until you get to US 9 and 159 take a right and stay on highway until you get to the track
3 miles north of Nortinville the highway turns into 116 hwy and 159 for about one mile then 159 comes north on a big sweeping curve
Check in is over at 5:00 pm
Some say to give 3 or 4 warm up cycles and then slow ride a tank of fuel out of it and others say lay the throttle open as soon as it fires and leave it there while pullin gears outta the shop. WHO knows..........you just opened a can of worms!
Mine was in second from top. I don't know how the guy even rode the damn thing! I moved the clip to bottom position and it ran good, also ran 290 mains.
25 or 27.5 pilots and raise the needles up a couple notches. Mine did the exact same thing when I bought it, I raised the needles all the way and it ran great.
I have a set of Sand stars on black label rims. They were used once at LS last fall and just been sittin in shop since. $140 shipped. Save yourself $60.
Also have a set of GBC fronts on blue label. Used twice. $60 shipped.
You're not convincing me. When I bought my Banshee it was 2 yrs old and the guy said he'd always ran Yamalube in it since day one. I rode it for another year using Yamalube. When I did decide to tear it down, I found hardly any carbon on top of the pistons and the bores still looked new. I couldn't believe it. The thing looked like it had maybe 5 hrs on it.
To make it simple, the math you did on the Yamalube didnt add up for me. Looks to me like it protects fairly well. And as for the smoke comment, the only time I'd be worried about a little smoke is if I were riding a four stroke.
