BenBB
See Q#22 in the Jetting FAQ, should have what you need to change the needle clip position (it's about a 3rd of the way down the page). Basically what you do is remove the carb cap (leave the cable attached), when you lift it the slide will come out, remove the cable from the slide, and remove the plate on the slide to get to the needle...the hardest part is dealing with the return spring, someone had some good ideas in the Tips & Tricks forum a while back (using a zip tie to hold the compressed spring). Good luck.
J-Madd
After you remove the slides (carburetor tops) : You have to push the spring against the cap. Then you can turn the slide upside down and shake it and the throttle cable lock will fall out. Then push the cable into the slide, and move the slide to the side to release the cable from its holder, and allow the spring to be removed. Then remove the screws holding the needle in the slide. Pull the needle out and you will see the clip. Use some needle nose pliers the pull it off and put it back in the appropriate notch. I just did this for the first time a couple days ago and its very easy. I also had help from my newly purchased Clymer's manual. I didn't know where to start either. Be careful, the needle clip may go flying if you don't have a grip on it with the pliers. I lost one of mine, but went to Autozone and bought a whole pack of E-clips for about 2.00. To put the needle back in, simply drop it through the top of the slide. The clip will rest between the slide and the piece that you screw back into the top of the slide. As far as the putting the cable back in. I just compressed the spring with my hands, slid the cable back in its notch. As long as you keep tension on the cable, it will stay in the notch until you can get the cable lock back in place. You can just line the cable lock up (with the narrow side facing up) and drop it right into place. Yoy may have to shake the slide a bit to get it to fall. The most important thing for me was to keep tension on the trottle cable, so it wouldn' t pop out before I got the lock in place. Good luck. Ducman
Get another person to help hold the spring that doesn't mind that your cussing at the clip as you are trying to get it back in the slide to hold the cable before it pops out of the holder again and again. Take a good look at how the clip is positioned in the slide to hold the cable before you turn the slide upside down and the clip falls out. After youve put the clip back in once it will get easier everytime after, but the first time is a pain especially by yourself. If by yourself then the zip tie on the spring helps but not absolutly necessary. Let the force be with you!

STLbanshee
will I need to take off my plastics or gas tank?
Ducman
will I need to take off my plastics or gas tank? I think it is easier with the tank off but I'm not sure if it's absolutely necessary. If you remove the tank then you can remove the carb slide without removing the carburator from the boots which can also be a pain. I think you have to do one or the other (remove carbs, or remove tank to get at the top of the carbs). I still have the TORS on so they make handeling the carb tops more of a pain and the more accessable the carbs are the better. It really doesn't take more that about 5 min to remove the tank and plastics and 5 to reinstall. If you have changes to the pilot or main jetting to do then you have to remove the carbs anyway. Then you could try to do the needles without removing the tank. Are you sure that you need to adjust the needles? On my shee if the pilots and mains are in good adjustment it only makes a very slight almost unnoticeable difference moving it from the stock clip to one clip richer. J-Madd
You don't have to remove the tank or the carbs to take the slides out. Well....you might if you still have TORS; I didn't think about that. Those tops are kind of bulky. I know for sure on a Blaster you can take the TORS tops out without removing the tank or carb. Justintoxicated
I did mine without removing anything, jsut pulled the carb off the boots turned it and took the cap off..However, now that I have air tools, I'll probably just pull the tank off because its a pain in the ass the other way with the TORS on your carbs.
