adeezy9183 Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 yea i was looking into putting the vitos 404 big bore kit on my banshee and was wondering if anyone had it on their shee. i already have wiseco pistons and la sleeves and a hot rod crank and was wondering if the 404 kit would make the banshee a better trail bike cuz that is really all i do and occasionally take her out on the track. i was wondering how much the kit and everything costs. installation, porting, polishing, everything. i know with the added power, iwould probably need a heavy duty clutch so could anyone tell me how much everything costs. just looking for a round about figure. thanks guys Quote
got1banshee Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 When I had my engine built I was really looking into that setup. I was talked out of it and was talked into sending my stuff to Passion racing engines and had him build my engine. He has his own style of polishing and porting and it will make more power than that 404 kit and its almost half the price. Check him out becasue you are going to spend about a 1000 on that kit installed becasue you have to get it ported anyway. Jim at passion can do wonders to your engine with only a 1000 bucks. Quote
adeezy9183 Posted April 23, 2004 Author Report Posted April 23, 2004 thanks for the help. what all did you get done to your engine for a thousand bucks? i am really looking to get some engine mods done. is it really that big of a difference? i heard that if you get that done, it gives you a lot more low end kind of like a four stroke. thanks again Quote
Big Blue Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 You can get your motor ported for whatever style you want, all you need to do is talk to jim and let him know what you want. Quote
bdrracing Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Add displacement on a stock stroke and the results will be disappointing for the dollar. Increase your port timing and you will gain HP at the expense of torque. Torque is what you want for your style of riding. The best way to acquire torque and HP on a shee is to add stroke. If your cylinders are stock or mildly ported now a stroker crank is your best option. For $800.00 to $1400.00 You can build a 4mm or 7mm long rod or a 10mm short rod motor with enough torque to pull your socks off. That includes port matching and custom cut domes for a cool head or custom cut your stock head. Triple ext porting would be extra but that would get you even more! Talk to Bill at Shortys Racing 503-463-6406. A little research can pay off BIG. BDR Quote
adeezy9183 Posted April 26, 2004 Author Report Posted April 26, 2004 I trail ride the most but i occasionally mx and drag but overall i trail ride. what's the best type of porting you guys would recommend for this? Quote
SyNtAxx Posted April 26, 2004 Report Posted April 26, 2004 hello, i have Jims (Passion Racing) MX port job...it rocks...more then enuff power for the woods.... Call him up he will hook you up for your needs...and riding style... Nick Quote
The Rebel Posted April 28, 2004 Report Posted April 28, 2004 There are several ways to pump up your power. They all work in different styles of riding. I trail ride too. You want a powerband that comes on low and smooth without that arm wrenching hit . So I went with a4mm, long rod stroker crank from Wiesco, .080 over on the bore using standard Blaster pistons. Using stock carbs and stock ports this combo has more bottom end than any 350 cranked Shee I've ridden. On a 500 ft. asphalt dragstrip my bike is within 1/1000 of a second as quick as a fully drag ported , drag piped 350 engine with 35mm pwks. This combo is real impressive. The real beauty is the port timing, being so mild, my carb jetting is never tempermental like the radically ported 350s are. But there's always room to improve if needed. I'm running a Trinity modified head and develop 150psi. of compression which runs on pump gas all day long, another BONUS. If you think you'll ever stroke your Shee, let your engine builder know that in advance. If you get it ported before you decide to stroke it later. Some port configurations just don't work that well with a stroker crank. The port timing changes when you add stroke to the crank. Remember that if you get it ported keep it on the conservative side, the more radical the port timing is the more tempermental you jetting needs will be. Hope that helps.... Quote
