ClayAiken Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Hey i have a tiny ass 7 1/2 foot plow for my truck. It's rusted and im looking to clean it up and paint it before the season starts. I don't have access to a sandblaster or anything like that. Just me and my angle grinder but yeah would i be better off wirewheeling it or do you think i should use sanding discs and if so what grit? I've never done a plow before just wondering what works best coming from someone who has done it before. Heres a picture of the current condition of the plow. Im going to be doing the front, back and headgear. Quote
Man-O-Steele Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 why paint it? just get some 80 grit flapper disks for a grinder. Quote
Nieskes Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Scotch brite wheels for a grinder will pull the paint off fast. Flap disks will take metal off, not much but it still will. Quote
Man-O-Steele Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 Scotch brite pads wear out faster. The start to almost polish shit in a way but those would work too Quote
sheerider11 Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 It's a snowplow, who gives a sit.X2, who the fuck cares what it looks like. And if you are concerned, spray it the way it is. It won't last long anyway. Quote
ClayAiken Posted June 19, 2013 Author Report Posted June 19, 2013 Im only worried about cleaning it up so i don't get any rot. Quote
sheerider11 Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 That fucker won't rot...Not in the time you will have it anyways.. Go to the ghetto and hire some demo to blow sand through a straw at it.. Might work.. LMAO!!! Quote

Finch Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I'd use a flapper wheel just don't get to crazy. Quote
