how to eliminate dog bone and connect my shock direct

I really hate the rear dog bone with the drop block set up i have and want to change it up.

 

Can someone tell me if there is anything bad about doing this?

 

My question is if i have to have a special swingarm made in order to mount a direct shock

 

Or

 

Do i just measure the distance from screw to screw and get a shock that is that length? I would need a 12 inch shock in this case.

i dont think you can just take the dog bone out and run without it because it will put too steep of an angle on the shock and more than likely handle like crap. i believe you need a no link swinger.

Taking the Dog bone out, doesnt that mess with the geometry of the suspension?

They make swing arms for a link or no link(dog bone) set up.

You will not get the ride from a direct link as opposed to the stock linkage setup. If you are looking for something stiffer for TT or drag racing a no link w/marvin is a great way to go.

so i guess its safe to say that the way that guy did it is wrong because of the shock angle..

 

In order for it to work i would have to get a no link swingarm which flips the mounts downwards like this one -
