What jetting?

Stock banshee engine, fmf fatties, stock carbs, k&n pods, no air box. 40*F 400'

I'm at a 27.5 pilot and a 280 main, air screw turned all the way in, nice smooth power 1-4 but 5 & 6 I lose it, sounds like lean sputter. Is the main or pilot too lean?

You do not tune 5th and or 6th gear by adjusting the airscrews. If it's lean you will melt it pretty quick. You need to look up how to do a plug chop or go up 1-3 jet sizes and see if it is worse. If it is worse then maybe you would be safe going down a jet size from the 280s. Wound out screaming in 5th or 6th is all mainjet and somewhat needle position. It has almost nothing to do with pilot or airscrew. DO A PLUG CHOP , or at least a newer plug wound out hard in 5th and see if it is lean by looking at the plug.

I know that airscrews don't effect it. I think I'm lean on my main for this weather, I'm about to send the top end off to be bored to the next size so I'm not doing any riding til then, which will probably put me mid to late april when the weather is warmer. Once I get everything back together I'll do a proper plug chop and put it up cause idk how to read them.

If it starts decent and runs ok thwen it probably doesnt need a bore and new pistons. You wont gain anything going up half a dozen ccs. Put new plugs in , 320 mains and run it hard under a load all the way up ito 5th , kill the motor and coast to a stop and tell us what the plugs look like and if it ran better. If it ran worse that tells ya something.
