Like the title says. I am getting into sand drag racing starting next year. There is a couple of tracks withen it a few hours from me. I have been to both of these tracks website and not one of them have a fourm for me to ask any question and the season is over so I cant go to the track. So I thought I would ask here and hopefully get enough enough to have a starting point. Anyway I have a Stock 2000 banshee I just picked up. So I have this thing and it runs but does not run to my liking so I have decided to go ahead and freshen it up. I know I want to ditch the carbs with the TORS for sure. As long the bottom end feels tight and looks good I am going to leave it all stock for next year but what iam wondering is what or should I do to the top end? I am 6'3" 340lbs ( now you understand the name LOL) By the way I will be also doing so comp hill climb. Here is what I have so far for my list. any help or ideas I would greatly appreciate Thank

Motor

Bottom end= stock

Top end = ????

Pipe = Dyno port 2into1

Carbs= was looking at a 2into 1 set up????

Chassis

frame= stock

swing arm= +8 or a +10

Shocks= ?????

Axle=?????

Tires

Fronts= ?????

Rears= ?????

I think that is everything.

First off What sound advice was I given? What ditch the 2 into 1 ??? WHY?? There is was no reason no nothing I have read many reviews on the 2 into 1 pipes and there is a lot of mixed reviews about them. But the dyno does not lie and from the dyno sheets I have seen it does not warrant any real reason NOT to run It. I am not running some monster High revving hog. Just going with something Mild. The other advice I got was about the crank. It was good advice I had just read about it. I knew nothing about it till then. Is that something I will do Yes it is. BTW solid advice is more than saying something is junk. Maybe a reason or two would have help why you say it is junk.

2nd You say if I am serious and want to WIN I need to rethink my entire setup.. WHAT SETUP??? I gave a very small list with a lot of blanks so therefor I don't have much of anything for a set up Just ideas. So you tell me to rethink it and learning the sport. OK you are right well the season is over in OHIO so for me to learn the sport I have to go online and read and ask question and all that. Which is what I did and what did I get in reply from 3 of you at this point Comments ITS JUNK, SOLID ADVICE, AND RETHINK MY SETUP. So you tell me to rethink and learn the sport BUT offer nothing!!!!

3rd So I am in the wrong game Because I happen to like the way a 2 into 1 sounds??? WHY??? What great advice you offer. All 3 of you had something to say about my Reply to n2otoofast4u in a negative way but nothing to help.

n2otoofast thank you for the trued and welded crank suggestion. knew nothing of that till I read it.

Are you going to run a wheelie bar?  Take off the shocks and drop it low and run struts?  If not you should.  What classes do you plan on racing in?  Im assuming you will be bracket racing so running consistant is what you want.  You can have a stock untouched bike and run pretty good in a bracket race.  Depending on what kind of classes you are racing depends on how to help you out.  You will want fron smoothy tires.  Will this be a track bike only?  If so, remove the front brakes and run some spindle mounts.  Weight is everything in drag racing so ditch everything you dont need.

Man I did not even think to add all that info. Yes it will be a track bike only.

Yes I was planning on running a wheelie bar. I was just looking over at Tyson racing they sell a ton of stuff for drag racing I was looking at there single a-arm conversion and going to spindle mount front rims. Ditching the breaks up front, longer and lighter steering stem, Going with one of there swing arms,

So do you want it fast? Or just consistent? Most if these guys are or were drag racers. I wouldn't get your panties in a bunch over them saying your setup is junk. That pipe does suck though. Not much better than stock I don't think. So if you're going to go fast, you need to change your setup and ditch that pipe. As was already said. Sorry it was offensive and not full of info, but true. What else do you want to know? Ask away.

Didn't mean to sound offensive. As for actual advice on building.

Open up and let me spoon feed you Fatboy.

* Build or buy at least a 421 Cub motor $3,000

* +10 swing arm $ 400

* A-Arms with struts $ 400

* 14 Paddle Extremes $ 400

* Spindle mount front tire set up $ 350

* 38-40mm carbs $350

* Intakes to match $100

* dual feed pingel fuel petcock $80

* Drag style steering stem $150

* JJ&A Drag axle $ 500

* extra add ons not listed $ 1,000

So you're right around $7,000 to build your drag bike.

And if I can be blunt , You will spend this money and get your ass handed to you by a 14 year old / 120lb snot nosed kid.

Take Brett's advice and build a Bracket Bike :)

I would be racing bracket. Let me ask this is possible to build a bike to be able to drag and hill climb? I know its hard to have anything that can be built to preform or excel in both types of racing. But I would be happy with a GOOD dual machine. Both tracks I will be going to have sand drags and hill climb comp.I just want something that will be consistent and have fun on. The wife wants to get the kid into racing she is only 2 so we have a few years b 4 she can race anything with a engine. But they do have a PeeWee class at both tracks and they run power wheels so really this is what this is about taken the wife and kid out on the weekends and racing and camping. BTW the wife wants to race as well. So really guys I do not need some full blown drag bike (at this time anyway) I just want a good faster than stock Banshee

a mild built toy. If it turns into more Then yes I will be looking to get a all out drag bike. So lets restart this . Here is what I have bone 2000 banshee. I do want to rebuild it so I know what I have. I look forward to your comments POS and NEG And if you are going to bash what I like or call it junk a reason why would be greatly appreciated. Its not cause I don't believe you its just I Like to know. Thanks
