Kmaxwell12
Hey wanting to make sure my jetting is about 4ight. I have full fmf gold series pipes, k&n filter with outer wears, drilled airbox lid on, bored to 65 mm with stock carbs and +4 timing. I'm running 300 mains 30 pilots air screw out 3 turns and needle on the next to bottom clip, running 91 octane and klotz supertech40:1. It pulls strong but feels like it's running hot and the plugs look very dry to me. I'll post pics here in a few min. Any advice?
locogato11283
It sounds too rich to me. What color are the plugs? White, tan or brown? It probably feels like it's running hot because it has been 80+ degrees in the midwest.
Kmaxwell12
Haven't done a plug chop yet but the plugs in it now have 30 to 45 min on them and they are black and dry. I'll do a chop when I get home in a little bit.
locogato11283
There's no reason to do a plug chop.
Kmaxwell12
So black and dry is good? Sorry still new to banshees and slowly learning all the stuff I need haha
locogato11283
No, it's too rich. The plug can be dry, but tan and dry is better. A motor that's too rich will run hot, which could explain why you think it's running hot. I'd lean it down to 280 main jets and check the plugs again. camatv
round har you probably be in the 270, 280, 290, 300 main. id probably drop to a stock pilot and see what the motor wants. put the needle in one clip down ( needle one rich point up from middle clip position) and jet it to that. if you run long long times at WOT then stay in the 300+ range its going to get really hot and can cause a heat stroke seizure.. he he
Kmaxwell12
I'll pick up a few jets and try them out. I heard fmf like the 30 pilot and it starts usually on the first kick and no low end bog so I think the pilot is good. I'm gonna drop a main size and see what it does. Where do you ride at camatv? I'm about 40 min west of salina right off of I
hoppedupandcutdown
I'm 40 miles east of Salina, 280's and middle clip w/Toomey t5's and no lid
