Time Machine Posted December 3, 2015 Report Share Posted December 3, 2015 I keep learning. Borrowed a leak down tester a couple weeks ago and the engine failed. Lost 1 1/2 pounds a minute. Decided to make my own tester and try it again. Tested it this morning and it passed. Held 6 pounds for over 5 minutes, needle didn't budge. I used a bunch of Windex on that first test, including on the tester, didnt see any leaks on it. One thing I did differently this time was to really clean up the exhausts before I put the caps on. I checked them on the first test, but it's hard to see well up there, so I'm wondering if that's what I missed. Anyhow, after doing some reading here I decided to use a fuel pressure gauge for the tester. I bought this Mr. Gasket, #1561, for $18 at O'reilleys. Power_Man Posted December 3, 2015 Report Share Posted December 3, 2015 Looks good to me. i had it happen once, that it lost a bit. took it all off and sprayed some silicone/oil on all the joints to get a good seal and then it didn't drop any.
