Jetting for glamis

I'm not great at jetting yet so I was hoping to get in the right ballpark for glamis. I'm at 4000 feet stock motor, v force reeds, no air lid, pc platinum pipes, 304 factory silencers. I'm currently using 30 pilots and 310 mains, stock carbs. The plugs look good.

I was thinking maybe turn the air screw in a bit and go up a few sizes on the main.

Man, you're jetted fat all over the place for 4000ft.

You're leaving a lot of response on the table.

310 mains are what I run at the ocean.

Doesn't get much more sea level than that.

My stock carbs are bored out and I run pods.

I'd say you're jetted perfect for Glamis.

Hopefully someone that's ridden there can verify your jetting.

If I were you, and I was jetted that fat for 4000ft, I'd start asking why?

Or maybe you like your Banshee mild mannered.

You may want to consider doing a leak down test just to be sure the rich jetting isn't hiding an airleak.

Airleaks cause the motor to need more fuel due to running lean.

What ratio are you mixing your fuel?

And what are your compression test readings?

Huh. Ya it sounded way weird when I tried the 27.5s had a weird buzzing sound, only way to describe it. It gets cold up here but the usual winter weather during the day is 40-60.

I went from t5s to the pc pipes with the 304 silencer so it sounded weird anyways. But there's no oil on the plugs at all, they're kinda carmel.

I'll have to check compression and do a leak down test. It likes to start with the choke on usually pretty well then I have to turn it off or it'll bog a little but keep running. Been riding it like this for a while and haven't fouled any plugs or had any problems.

When I had the t5s it was setup by Duncan racing and it had 330 mains and a 27.5 pilot. When I went pro circuit I dropped to 310 mains and up to 30 pilot. 0-1/4 throttle it would have no power with the 27.5 pilot and I can't remember but I think it use to bog at wot but something made me lower the main jet. I'll post pics of the plugs later. Not chopped tho.

No way in hell a stock motor needs 330 mains especially at 4k ft asl.

4mil dune port stk cyl's are usually around 30 pilots, 330 mains with the needle clips in the 4th groove.

You really need to do a leadown test to make sure you don't have any airleaks.

Negative, if you're coming down in elevation, it's a main jet size larger per 2k ft.

Air temp also comes into play.

The colder the air the richer you need to be.

IIRC, every 20* colder is main jet size larger/richer.

We're talking stock carbs here.

what air filter? it makes a big difference. When my bike was stock with T5s and foam filter no lid i ran 290 mains.  When i went to pods with no air box obviously i had to go to 320 mains at glamis.  My guess is you are pretty closely jetted for glamis now but ive never run your pipes.  If anything id buy a couple sizes of jets up from where you are at just in case but id run it where its at and do a plug check first thing.

Oh I meant going up from sea lvl every 1000 ft so I should be around 290 up here? After I do a leak down I'll try it.

I've got a foam air filter, no lid. Ya I'll definitelybe checking plugs n stuff. Almost wanna make a trip prior just for tuning it.

Thanks for your help. I was worried I'd be too lean lol. It just sounds so off with the silencerz. But sometimes at the top of the powrrband especially when it's hot, it'll make a weird metallic buzzing noise and lose power unless I shift up. Hard to explain. I'd have to record it. I was afraid it was a lean noise. No pinging tho.
