lets hear you xc/trail set up

Recommended Posts

Im building a xc/trail quad and would like to hear how you guys have your bike set up. Right now im in the processe of building my engine. This is a ground up build so my options are wide open at this point. So far for the engine it will be 10over either rebuild stock welded crank or maybe a hot rods 4mil, k&n no lid, boysene reeds, stock carbs, no porting, and either a stock shaved head for now or a cool head if funds allow it. Im still in the air on what pipes i have a set of t3s i thought about making them fit a a arm frame, but have read they are more of a top end pipe. Any pointer and options are welcome thanks.

when i built mine i had it in mind that i would be riding longer distances, definetly look into a aftermarket gas tank i went all in with the clark tank 5.5 gallons nothing like almost never having to worry about gas when your out there my favorite sand hills and trails are a 4 mile ride there and another 4 back and i usually run out of gas before the shee does, my engine is a 421 cheetah with powervalves, the powervalves are great when your in the trails you dont have to shift as much when your up and down in speed, any nice aftermarket shock with do just great on the trials, i run custom noss head 20cc domes +4 timing, oh and crank is 4 mill i love the set up for the trials around here

XC and trails vary and the set-ups associated with them. Here in Colorado the folllowing setup has been killer for me. I ride between 6,000' and 12,000'.

2006 Banshee

Roll Design, Lobo 2 XC package

Axis Shocks

Herman stem w/ 1-1/8 clamp

5 gallon tank

Twist throttle

AC Pro Peg nerfs

RPM front hubs

Douglas Billet Shamrocks

ITP XCs

Stock bore and stroke

Milled head

V-Force 3s

Trinity 2-1 (port matchd to the reed cages)

33mm carb

stock air box

K&N filter and air box lid

PT mids

Toomey silencers w/ spark arrestors (we fabed these up to fit the PT mids)

Evans coolant

Pump gas - Yamalube 2R

160lb jockey

A 50 mile loop is common for us and the pace is really fast for the entire ride. I cant imagine trying to run my modded motor in my XC set-up. I have never needed more motor for the trails we ride.

Good luck with your build.

  • 2 weeks later...

4 mil pump gas

+2+1 arms

Stock length swing arm

Axis front pep rear suspension

Flexx bar

LSR anti vibe stem

Hiper rims

Other shit. I like it. My bike makes way more power then needed. It's closer to a dune bike then a trail bike. But I have no dunes. So I put a dune motor in a trail chassis.
